Circle of Promise by Synthia SAINT JAMES
Have you joined the Circle of Promise?
Susan G. Komen for the Cure® commissioned artist Synthia SAINT JAMES to create “Circle of Promise” in support of its Circle of Promise program, an initiative dedicated to re-writing the story on breast cancer in the African American community. “Circle of Promise” is meant to inspire hope, healing, unity and love in our shared vision of creating a world without breast cancer.
The “Circle of Promise” begins in the center of the painting where the women wearing pink and magenta are gathered together, creating the foundation of a circle that spirals out to include black women of all ages, groups and radiant skin tones. These women at the heart of the painting are symbols of knowledge and enlightenment in the fight against breast cancer. The cadmium yellow color featured most vibrantly at the top of the painting represents a source of golden healing, light and love.
These limited edition Circle of Promise fine art reproductions are hand-signed and numbered by the artist herself. Each 22 ˝" x 30" reproduction is printed on premium gloss cover stock (ready for mounting and framing) and includes a certificate of authenticity.
Self-taught artist/author, Synthia SAINT JAMES was born in 1949 in Los Angeles, California. Her professional career as an artist began in 1969 in New York City where she sold her first commissioned paintings. Today she is an internationally recognized fine artist. You'll find her work on over 60 book covers (including books by Alice Walker, Terry McMillan, Iyanla Vanzant and Julia Boyd), and on several licensed products.
